Scalehouse Operator and Compost Sales
Delta Compost is seeking to hire an organized individual to help with customer service, compost sales and facility operations. This person will be interacting with the public who are dropping off yard waste, customers using the scale and helping sell compost to interested people. This person will be outside a lot, helping customers, loading compost and help with other projects as needed, which may include cleaning equipment. Our facility is hot in the summer and can sometimes be stinky, but we have fun and are proud that we turn the gnarly stuff into awesome compost.
The individual must have effective communication skills and be comfortable talking to new people while bringing a positive attitude. If interested, there may also be opportunities to attend fun events and to talk to people about composting food scraps and the benefits of using compost (but this is not required for this position).
Friendliness and likability are especially important for this role. Our ideal candidate wants to learn about the compost manufacturing process and is willing to get dirty. Must be able to lift heavy objects and work outdoors year-round.
This position may include but is not limited to:
- Inspecting yard waste loads
- Assisting with scale operations and able to troubleshoot
- Selling compost: learning about compost and helping explain the uses and benefits to people
- Collecting payments and operating point of sale system
- Organize and maintain office and office supplies
- Learning to run tractor to safely load compost
- Assisting with the facility as needed:
– Picking up trash around the facility
– Operating irrigation system on farm field
– Cleaning equipment at end of day - Helping with other projects as needed
- Help staff events to grow compost collection services and sell compost.

Requirements:
- High School or Equivalent (Required)
- Driver’s License (Required)
- Must be 18 years old
- Background check and drug test required
